"I see every architectural project as a link in a long chain, rooted in the past on one end, and extending into the future – for which we are responsible – on the other. That future involves social, cultural, religious and economic changes, and I believe that as architects we must recognize that what we do today will live on and affect its surroundings long after it is out of our drawing board. We must, therefore, leave space for the people, stories and memories that live in the spaces we create, so they are able to evolve after we have finished our design work."
Ori Feldman received his B.Arch from the Department of Architecture and Town Planning at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Following his studies, Ori apprenticed at the Orit Milbauer-Eyal architecture firm, where he designed and supervised the construction of a variety of projects. Among them was a preservation and extension project in historic Jaffa, which included the conversion of two structures into residences with a new commercial/retail ground floor.
Additionally, he worked as part of the design team of the award-winning affordable housing ‘Ganey Shapira’ project. The project, located in the renewing Shapira neighborhood in south Tel-Aviv, won the 2015 Rokach Prize, one of Israel’s top architecture awards.
Today, Ori designs projects for private market buyers and developers.
The studio operates as a design lab. The most important stage of the creative process is the preliminary study of the site and its surroundings, the analysis of development rights and regulations. As part of the same process, the client’s personal needs are thoroughly reconsidered. As soon as we shake off our fixed patterns of thinking, new creative horizons open up: multi-purpose areas, effective space usage and different kinds of spatial packaging.
He adheres to minimalism and aesthetic simplicity, through clean and clear designs, an emphasis on functional ease of use and balanced construction costs. Ori’s work pays close attention to interior spaces and design details, while addressing climate, landscape and environmental considerations. An evolving conversation with the client is inherent in his planning process, taking into account the client’s present and long term needs.
